Jeff Tweedy, mastermind behind WIlco is indeed that, a mastermind. He is also behind Wilco. Having started up as a country band recording cult country classic AM, Tweedy pulled the old switcheroo on his fans, the kind of switcheroo that made Niel Young’s Trans album seem like a good idea. I can imagine Tweedy explaining to the rest of the band, “What if we took WIlco, said screw country music, and instead made the one of best records of the decade?” Well as ill-conceived as that plan must of sounded, its exactly what Wilco did, the album being Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a colossus among albums, capturing everything that can be good about music on one disc. Todays track is from that album and the song is Heavy Metal Drummer.
