Track of the Moment: Ungirthed by Purity Ring

Watching a brand new band gaining as much hype as fast as Purity Ring has is an awesome/scary thing.  I’ve heard everyone of the singles and as far as merging dream pop and electronic they are certainly a stand out act.  After a phenomenal showing at SXSW they went from “Who’s that” to “WHERE CAN I GET THE ALBUM” for a lot of people present company included.  However, I’m always a little hesitant when it comes to judging a new band by their singles.  If the rest of their album plays like these songs I already have a place saved for them on the iPod, or…lets not discuss the alternative.  Actually, I could just be a worrywart.  These guys are pretty damn good.
The music has a fantastic ambient presence.  Funky noise mixed with poppy beats accompanied by Megan James hazy lyrics.  Their singles pop, sway, and groove.  If you don’t believe me check out this musical biscuit!  Also stay tuned for our verdict on their new album.  I’m sure between me Steve and Eric one of us will be talking about it.  If you can't wait check out their stuff here.

  1. Probably should have put a NSFW tag for that video. Boobies aplenty.

  2. Purity Ring has gotten a scary amount of press, it reminds me a bit of Black Kids, who got so much positive press before their first album came out, and then when it finally dropped expectations were way too high

  3. Way to get my hopes up eric btw

    1. You can always just go to youtube and search for the official video...
