Some folk music tells stories weaving tales, truthful or not, using music as a medium.
Others paint pictures allowing the reader to use the words and melody to
see what the artist is describing.
Then there is a select few that really make you feel. Something about the music, delivery,
and vocals that can really…I don’t know; make you feel. Elle Odessa has that ability.
The
melody in this track is pretty simple, almost making the sound feel a little vacant. This, however, works in the songs
favor. The theme of the song is
greed, or desire. The singer has
an insatiable lust, and as she rattles off a list of things she wants the song
builds, almost in a metaphoric way.
I
don’t have to much info on the artist herself, but you can find out what you
will on her facebook where you can hear this and her other two tracks. I’d love to hear more from her, and
hopefully I’ll be able to get hold of her for those of you who, like Elle
Odessa, want more. Until then fill
your ears with this.
