There are a lot of very profound artists who write very
serious albums about dying and then actually do die. There is obviously Biggy,
along with others like Ian Curtis, Kurt Cobain, and Warren Zevon. It is always
sad when anyone dies, but especially so when that person is an artist who
touches other people through their art. So is the case with Jay Reatard, an
extremely prolific song writer for someone who died at the age of twenty nine.
Of the albums that he recorded under his own name, the one that stands out is
Watch Me Fall, an album for the most part that consists of ironic lo-fi tracks about
Jay’s life. Take a listen to today’s track, It Aint Gonna Save Me.
