Track of the Moment: Perfect Mean by Kursed

If you’ve ever listened to bands like Smashing Pumpkins or Blind Melon and thought “You know what this needs, some more French.”  Congratulations, you’re the exact kind of crazy our blog caters to.  If you’re not then bare with me for a second.
Kursed is a 3 piece from Montpellier, France that formed in 2003.  This track is from their sophomore effort “Like A Coffee.”  These guys ARE grunge, but like a lot of good grunge bands they kind of define the genre instead of letting the genre define them (like the crappy “grunge” bands do.)  This track plays very much like a Smashing Pumpkins Jam (after the jazzy opening that goes along with the subtle joke of the album cover.)  Other tracks are a bit more psychedelic while others run true to the grunge style, with pounding drums, roaring guitar, and whispering-screaming lyrics.
The songs are usually sung in English, which is good for them because I know a lot of people who get turned off of some really good music just because they can’t understand it.  Not that I think they should pander or anything, but I think these guys have a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to hear about these guys in the future.  Also their accents add a pretty interesting touch.
If you like the sample I got here then you’re in luck.  The first 6 tracks of this album as well as some other goodies are available here.  The rest of the album is available on itunes or their very French website  Listen, Enjoy, and Demand more French in your Grunge.
