It’s certainly a testament to the vast amount of music out there that you can go on a five minute search online and find something that’s been around your whole life that you never heard, and is fantastic! I recently experienced this when I heard the album “Pod” by The Breeders for the first time. I am a fan of the Pixies and Nirvana, and not only are The Breeders fronted by Kim Deal famed bassist of the Pixies, but this album was cited by Kurt Cobain as being one of the most influential albums of his life, and one of the reasons he chose Steve Albini (engineer on the album Breed) to produce the album “In Utero.”
This brings me back to my original query, why have I never heard this album? I can’t really answer that, so I’m going to chalk it up as bad luck. But I’m going to turn this into a lesson: Music is ALWAYS happening, and they have been recording it for going on 100 years. If you want to experience all you can you have to keep on looking for the next big thing and that last thing that slid under your radar…but while I do that listen to this great track off of this great piece of sound.
