Track of the Moment 2- Atlas by Battles
As promised, today’s track of the moment is a tune by Battles. Atlas, which is a single from the album Mirrored is a strange yet fantastic track. The sound of the song could best be described as the Lollipop Guild choir being conducted by Marylyn Manson. Its really an original tune, and it goes on for seven minutes, making it a particularly long single, but who’s complaining?

Actually Steve, I believe that Atlas was edited down to about four minutes for the single and the video. It's nice, but nothing like the song with its original length.
ReplyDeleteYou raise a good point John. How do you feel about songs being shortened for the radio? Some tracks especially in the sixties and seventies absolutely got butchered by being reduced to singles, a good example being Slow Ride by Foghat. My main complaint is that singles edits rarely add anything to the song, if its good enough to be a single, shouldnt we want to hear more?
