Black Tambourine was a band that never really made it from
the late nineties- early two thousands. And while their discography is limited,
the more recently released compilation that contains all of their recorded
materials is good and gives a well rounded complete look at the bands work. Half
pop, half shoegaze, they do a lot of what the post-punk revivalist scene is
doing now, it’s a shame they never caught on. Anyway here take a listen to an
excellent cover they offer up by Suicide, Dream Baby Dream. The original is
dark and creepy, to hear it reinterpreted as a love song here is clever and daring
to cover a band with as much of an eye for art as Suicide.
