When can you say that you’ll really like a band? It’s kind of an interesting question
because it’s not something people think about. When is the exact moment a piece of music mean something to you? Some pieces really need to grow on
you. For me I had to listen to tUnE-yArDs,
Animal Collective, Man Man and Tom Waits a few times before I realized how
awesome they were. That’s just how
some bands are, you have to do some digging. Others like Cults, The New Pornographers, and Rubblebucket
got me hooked on the first rift.
Both these ways work, and are both very rewarding if done right. These guys fall into the latter
category.
Cold
Fronts is a “4 car garage” rock band straight out of Philly (represent) that,
if the music is anything to go by, is still thinking about the 90’s. It about rock being fun, a release, as opposed to it being about art or status, which is always a great outlook. They got the catchy post punk riffs
that are reminiscent of a cleaner Dinosaur JR or maybe Pavement. Regardless they are fun, fast and rock
pretty hard. There’s not much more
I can say about these guys I’ll just let them show you.
You
can check out Cold fronts here, download them here, also like them here,
not here, or here for that matter, Oh and you can get a free song download
